Power Flower: Intersectionality and The Complexity of Identity and Oppression

Power Flower: Intersectionality and The Complexity of Identity and Oppression will help participants explore how "all inequality is not created equal" by examining how social identities can overlap.

Dr. Charné Furcron, LPC, BC-DMT, ASC, MAC, BCC, is Director of Education for Moving in the Spirit (MITS). She has been actively involved with MITS for over thirty years and manages program evaluation to provide evidence that proves the impact of the program on the dancers’ youth development goals, and dance technique. In addition, she is an Adjunct Professor for Lesley University in the Dance Therapy program. Dr. Furcron has presented her work with Dance/Movement Therapy and Positive Youth Development regionally, nationally, and internationally. Her TED Talk-style presentation on Dance: Positively Changing Lives of Urban Youth was featured by the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) as the first in a series, “ADTA Talks.” She co-authored articles with Dr. Leon Rodgers for the International Journal for the Advancement of Counselling and the American Journal of Dance Therapy. Also, she serves as the Multicultural Diversity Chair for the Board of Directors of ADTA.
