Movements as a Door for Learning Physics Concepts

Embodied pedagogy for learning science concepts, how movement exercises can promote understanding of physics concepts?

Dr. Roni Zohar is a scientist. She holds a M.Sc. in Neurobiology from the Hebrew university of Jerusalem which deal on motor control and a B.Sc. in physics, combined with studies in the Department of Movement at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Dr. Zohar did her Ph.D. in the Department of Science Teaching at the Weizmann Institute of Science, looking at movements as a door for learning physics concepts, as part of integrating embodied pedagogy in teaching. Currently, she is a Postdoctoral fellow at Prof. Ehud Ahissar's lab in the Department of Neuroscience at the Weizmann Institute of Science (Rehovot, Israel), where she studies embodied cognition through focusing on eye tracking during embodied learning. In addition, Dr. Zohar is a dance and improvisation teacher. She has interests in connecting art and science. As part of her pedagogical activities, Dr. Zohar teaches academic courses in Movement, science and learning and trains science teachers in embodied pedagogy.
