Kate Alida Mullen is an artist, curator, arts facilitator and writer who was born on the lands of the Whadjuk people in Western Australia. Kate is undertaking a creative practice-led PhD in Naarm (Melbourne, Australia), where she is currently based on the lands of the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples.
Kate’s research explores the transformational potentiality of rituals of deep listening, and how such practices may be wielded as mechanisms for decolonisation. Underpinning Kate’s work more broadly is an interest in the capacity of art making to bring about embodied, empathetic interconnection with place, and others, to support natural healing processes.
In addition to her ongoing art and curatorial practices, Kate is engaged in arts-based consultancy work Australia-wide with Art Centres and arts organisations who work in partnership with communities. Over the past five years, Kate has worked particularly closely with Aboriginal owned and run corporations in remote communities.
