Nicoleta Carpineanu

Nicoleta Carpineanu is a UK-based, Romanian artist, DJ, producer, senior yoga teacher (500hrs +) and environmentalist. Nico began her love affair with music, dance, food and forests at a very young age. Her grandmother lived near the wild forests, and her parents cheffed at local traditional restaurants and festivals in the mountains. There was limited access to new music in Communist Romania, but she learned to DJ, studied choreography and travelled the world (as a yoga teacher, by day, and a touring DJ, by night). Drawing musical inspiration from the natural beauty and diversity of her surroundings, Nico was always drawn back to the cultural and natural riches of her homeland, Transilvania. **Forests Without Frontiers came to life after Nico **recorded traditional musicians in the Carpathian mountains for her album 'Be One', and **decided to donate all profits to plant trees in the area. The interconnection between cultural and ecological ecosystems is central to the Forests Without Frontiers ethos, supporting and giving voice to elders in the community at the same time as regenerating our lost forests.**
