Rob Poyton

Robert was born in the early 1960’s in East London. He trained in Judo and boxing as a child and at age 18 began training in Yang Family Taijiquan. For many years he studied the Chinese Internal Arts in depth. In the 1990’s he set up his own school and began cross training in several styles of martial art, qigong and similar practices. In the late 90s he was introduced to the Russian art of Systema and has trained extensively with Mikhail Ryabko and Vladimir Vasiliev in Moscow and Toronto. In addition he has arranged several UK seminars for Mikhail, Vladimir and other instructors. Robert now trains solely in Systema and runs classes in the UK and teaches seminars throughout Europe. He has been featured in numerous books and magazines as well as producing his own books and training films. Outside of training, Robert is a professional musician and currently lives in rural Bedfordshire with his wife and a small menagerie.
