What is Flow, and how can we cultivate it on all the different levels we inhabit as humans? Yoga as it is currently practiced in many places - often hypertensing, overstretching, hyperventilating and generating a lot of mental activity - can present many potential obstacles to accessing physical and mental flow states, or even inhibit the proper circulation of blood, nutrients and vital energy throughout the body. In this session you'll learn key concepts for improving flow on physical, physiological, phenomenological and mental levels. We will cover examples of how to strengthen these internal connections, improve circulation, and explore principles of how the inner body chemistry, brainwaves and breathing all change in response. Learning outcomes 1. Understand key differences between modern and traditional bodies, how this can inhibit good circulation and diminish the effectiveness of our yoga practice if not taken into account, and learn practical techniques for improving movement & posture practice in light of this. 2. Understand the way breath physiology impacts on our brainwaves, nervous system, body chemistry and states of awareness, and the implications for our movement, asana and pranayama practice. 3. Understand the roles of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, and learn simple techniques for balancing them
