How we approach the experience of physicality from a cultural perspective. Based upon long-term ethnographic fieldwork in the remote Pacific archipelago of the Solomon Islands, this presentation looks at certain ways physical practice can be compared and contrasted throughout the world philosophically and empirically. The body generates meaning through movement, yet is often neglected as a way to comprehend the experience of being human, as part of nature. Here, we look to provide a phenomenological framework to embodied experience.
