The hands are fundamental in human development, integrating the physiological, cognitive and emotional aspects of our being. Over the past six months our hand interaction has been severely disrupted, potentially impacting upon our relationships and our own sense of embodiment. These effects may be most profound for children, who may not be able to fully comprehend the sudden loss of touch in their lives. Parents and embodiment teachers can take a proactive approach in re-connecting children with their hands.
Kevin Campbell Davidson is an embodiment teacher, movement-play practitioner and academic who has been focusing his research on hands over the past two years. In this session he will share a condensed version of his research leading to practical tools and exercises to re-engage our hands, including both socially-distanced and touch-based movement practices, drawing upon principles of Bothmer MovementĀ®. Expect a playful session with gentle movement practices, intellectual stimulation and heart-opening connection.
