As humans, we are tied to our physical bodies. How we experience the world is heavily colored by how we relate to and experience our bodies. At the same time, a lot of our physical conduct is shaped by our ideas about it. Whether we think something is pleasurable or difficult or uncomfortable or fun will impact how we experience a certain type of movement or whether we engage in it at all. Partner Acrobatics, the exploration of extraordinary movement with another person, has an immense ability to expand our sense of what we think we are capable of and to raise the congruency between our conceptual gaze and our actual experience. In this session, we will examine how an explorative movement practice can affect our sense of intimacy and modes of relating.
